PATTERNED PAPER STUDIES COMING THURSDAY, 10/17!

This week’s paper studies release was inspired by my 4 year old daughter. Yup, you read that right!

During my pregnancy with our last baby last year and earlier this year, we often sat and scribbled together. It was all that I could muster up the energy to do after the halfway point, but I loved watching her freely create marks. Side note, she is also the textbook definition of a free spirit, so it was very fitting for her.

I often felt so inspired by her energy, and little papers she would tape to my studio wall. I knew that I eventually wanted to use the inspiration that she unknowingly gifted to me as a jumping off point for something else of my own.

Thus, these studies were born. I hoped to capture her young, carefree, and fun use of color and markings, while adding in texture and layers for interest. There is also a bit of Paul Klee inspiration behind the checkered pieces!
